Projects & Activities
What we do
We focus on the most underprivileged, vulnerable, and marginalized youth in Uganda living in poverty in Wroho town council, Ntungamo district and the surrounding regions.
Many of these young boys and girls drop out of school due to financial hardship and other challenges that prevent them from continuing to secondary school education or even finish primary school education.
Through skills training and empowerment programs, we aim to increase their ability to create their own jobs, become strong candidates for employment, and build self-reliant, sustainable livelihoods.
Our work also contributes to ending child marriages and breaking the cycle of poverty, giving every young person the opportunity to pursue a hopeful and dignified future.
Kiyodel skills training center
At KIYODEL Skills Training Center, our mission is to empower young boys and girls with practical, self-sustaining skills that open doors to brighter futures. We aim to inspire innovation, nurture entrepreneurship, and equip youth with the confidence and competence to create their own livelihoods or secure meaningful employment.
Through this initiative, we seek to reduce youth unemployment and prevent early marriages by offering young people real opportunities for growth and independence.
Our training programs target youth between the age of 13 and 25, who have completed primary school education (or who can read and write) but lack the financial means to continue to formal secondary school education. As an alternative to formal education, the KIYODEL provides hands-on vocational training/skilling and a clear pathway toward economic empowerment.
The establishment of KIYODEL Skills Training Center responds to an urgent need within the community for accessible and affordable vocational education. Many young people in the region particularly girls drop out of school due to financial hardship, long distances to secondary schools, and limited prospects for further education. These challenges often lead to early marriages and persistent poverty.
Together, we can reduce youth unemployment and prevent early marriages. Join us in providing practical training that transforms lives.
HOLD MY HAND PROJECT (Sponsor a Youth)
In many villages across Uganda, young people struggle to complete even primary school education. Without access to further education, boys and girls often marry at a very young age, losing the opportunity to build a better future for themselves.
To break this cycle, KIYODEL organisation established a Skills Training Center, where young people can learn practical and marketable skills that are applicable in their communities. These skills empower them to become self-reliant and work towards a brighter, more independent future.
However, many families cannot afford the cost of training and KIYODEL cannot do it alone.
We are looking for sponsor parents (godmothers or godfathers) who are willing to support a young person for one or two years of vocational training. By sponsoring a youth, you are giving them a chance to learn, to dream, and to build a future filled with hope and opportunity.
You can choose how you wish to support:
- €20/month – Covers tuition fees for one student.
- €25/month – Covers tuition fees plus study materials for one student.
- €30/month – Covers tuition fees, study materials, and school meals for one student or €360 per year.
Good to know: If you live in Belgium, your donation to KIYODEL is tax-deductible, meaning you can recover part of your contribution through your tax return.
Keep a girl child in school
Poverty continues to limit many girls from reaching their full potential. One of the most significant challenges girls face in most African countries in rural areas is lack of access to sanitary hygiene products. During menstruation, many girls are forced to miss school because their families cannot afford these essential supplies. Over time, frequent absenteeism leads to girls dropping out of school entirely and this situation exposes them to early marriage and teenage pregnancy.
At KIYODEL, we are committed to breaking this cycle by addressing the key barriers that prevent girls from staying in school. Through our Keep a Girl Child in School Project, we distribute sanitary hygiene products to girls in ten primary schools across Rwoho Town Council in Ntungamo district. Our goal is to ensure that every girl can attend school with confidence, even during her menstrual period, and successfully complete her primary school education.
Beyond providing sanitary products, we also conduct mentorship and life skills programs for both girls and boys. We engage parents, teachers, and community leaders to raise awareness about the importance of keeping all children both girls and boys in school.
In many African communities, menstruation is still considered a taboo subject. At KIYODEL, we are changing that narrative. We encourage open conversations about menstruation, helping young girls understand and manage it without fear, stigma, or shame.
By empowering girls to stay in school, we are not only supporting their education but also contributing to a stronger, more equitable future for our communities.
Help us ensure that no girl misses school because of lack of basic hygiene. Support the Keep a Girl Child in School Project today.
Ecological & Sustainable Initiatives
Sustainability is at the heart of KIYODEL’s work. Our facilities and activities are designed with environmental responsibility in mind, ensuring that our programs support both people and the planet.
You can choose how you wish to support:
- Solar Energy System that powers the entire training center
- Eco-friendly biodigester toilets for safe, sustainable sanitation
- Eco-kitchen system that promotes clean cooking, reduces waste, and provides nutritious meals
- A production model that teaches youth how sustainability can reduce costs and improve livelihoods
These systems not only serve the center but also teach students how to adopt environmentally friendly solutions in their own homes and communities.
Support our mission to create a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable learning environment for youth. Your contribution helps us expand eco-friendly systems that benefit both people and the planet.
Clean Water Project
Access to clean water is a major challenge in Ntungamo District. Students often travel long distances to fetch water, affecting their schooling and health.
KIYODEL addressed this by drilling a natural water source and installing a clean water system directly at the Skills Training Center.
How this project helps:
- Provides safe drinking water for students and staff
- Supports surrounding families and communities
- Reduces waterborne diseases and improves overall hygiene
- Ensures students stay focused on learning instead of searching for water
Clean water restores dignity and creates a healthy learning environment for all.
Help us provide reliable access to clean, safe drinking water for students and surrounding families. Your support ensures healthier lives and a better learning environment for every child.
Community Empowerment & Awareness Programs
Real change involves the whole community. KIYODEL actively works with parents, teachers, leaders, and youth to create a supportive environment for education and empowerment.
What these programs include:
- Workshops promoting the importance of education for both boys and girls
- Community dialogues on ending early marriages
- Awareness campaigns on gender equality and children’s rights
- Mentorship sessions that help youth build confidence, motivation, and life skills
- Engagement with local leaders to strengthen long-term support for development initiatives
Community involvement ensures that KIYODEL’s impact remains sustainable and far-reaching.
Help us build stronger, more informed communities that support children’s education and well-being. Your contribution empowers parents, leaders, and youth to create lasting change together.
